Simmons University Center for Student Success
300 Fenway, Boston
About This Project
The project scope consisted of demolition of the ground level floor of Simmons University’s existing library to create a space for their new Center for Student Success. The Center was created as an open space with a casual concept to create a collaborative setting for students to study and interact on projects. A portion of the space consists of one on one rooms, meeting rooms, and a bank of offices for library and administrative staff. There were extensive HVAC mechanical upgrades as well as new LED lighting installed throughout.
- 10,600 SF
- 5-month schedule
- The existing structure is a combination of cast-in-place concrete “Waffle slab” and the addition of a contemporary steel frame with composite steel and concrete floors
- Leveling the floor and ensuring the entry ramp was compliant with slope, side clearances, and railing heights with the proper extensions at the base and top landings required significant preconstruction planning and modeling
