What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
I love playing mahjong. My mother taught my brother and me when we were little, and now we play whenever the three of us are together. It’s even more exciting when I play with my relatives – they are all pros!
Who or what inspires you?
Definitely my mother and father. They’ve overcome many obstacles throughout their lives and have achieved so much. My mom, who immigrated to the United States from the Philippines when she was only 23 years old, secured her first professional job as a Chemist for P&G/Gillette in South Boston. She continued working at Gillette for the next 31 years before retiring. My dad, who was the first generation on his side of the family to attend college, put himself through both undergrad and graduate school. He has worked in the construction industry for over 40 years and has worn many hats throughout his career, including architect, owner’s project manager, and construction manager. Now, he is the Vice President of the Strategic Projects Group at Commodore. I’m very lucky to be able to work at the same company as him. My parents are my role models, who motivate me to never give up, even if the whole world is against me!
What is one thing on your bucket list and will you accomplish it?
I’ve always wanted to visit the Uyuni Salt Flat in Bolivia. It looks like such a surreal place!
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
On the last night of my semester abroad in Rome, I jumped in a fountain. And no, it wasn’t the Trevi.
