What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
I can throw a frisbee very well. I played ultimate frisbee all through college and beyond, it’s a (semi) useless talent that I can bust out at barbeques, tailgates, and other small gatherings with friends and family. People go “Wow Mike! What a cool and completely relevant talent!”
Who or what inspires you?
The natural world inspires me every day. Seeking out and embracing both the natural simplicity and calmness that comes with the environment outside invigorates me. Striving to promote sustainability in all things, including construction, can help us all embrace the natural world more.
What is one thing on your bucket list and will you accomplish it?
I hope to take a road trip across the U.S. and see the national parks out west. My hope is to take my girlfriend and dog and see Zion, Yellowstone, Glacier, and the Grand Canyon National Parks. Seeing the views and vista that inspired millions before me and totally immersing myself in the natural beauty is something I know I’ll get to… eventually.
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
I decided when I was 24 to run a half marathon with 3 weeks of training. My friend was doing it and had been training so I wanted to see if I could do it as well. I finished with a fairly good time, walked home, and couldn’t move for a couple of days. Remember to stretch!
