John Sables

Superintendent

John Sables

What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
I used to fly helicopters.

Who, living or dead, would you like to eat dinner with the most? And why?
Admiral William Halsey. He was in charge of the Pacific fleet in 1944 when my uncle’s destroyer and others were lost at sea from a typhoon. Many say he was to blame, he was charged and found not guilty. I would like to hear his side of the story.

What is your favorite project you worked on and why?
John Adams Building Quincy. This was a three-year project in an occupied building. Started on the roof and worked down through the entire building. This was a 100,000 sq. ft. valued at over 100 million. Favorite because of the team we had on-site, and also had a lot of mechanicals, ups, generators, new service, new air handlers, roofing, and complete interior buildout. Covering all aspects of construction.

How did you get into construction?
Started as a heavy equipment mechanic out of high school. Married, had children, built a house, needed additional income. Joined the union and worked installing concrete forms. Worked my way up to the superintendent.
