Brightcove is a world leader in the creation of online video tools and applications for mobile devices. Commodore Builders was charged with constructing Brightcove’s new headquarters. The new environment is innovative, larger and a more flexible, collaborative workspace that supports the firm’s recruitment and retention goals.
The office occupies 82,000 square feet on two floors of the Atlantic Wharf Building in Boston’s rapidly growing Innovation District. Commodore installed an interconnecting stair, a focal point in the office that also doubles as bleacher seating for company meetings. The polished pre-cast concrete stairs match the polished concrete floors throughout the contemporary space. An open floor plan fosters collaboration. A few enclosed offices are located within the interior space, permitting more daylight and sweeping views of Boston Harbor.
A variety of collaborative spaces are found throughout the environment, including conference rooms and brainstorming “war rooms” with all-around glass writable surfaces. A companywide cafeteria-training-gathering space features ping-pong tables, foosball tables, basketball hoops and a fully stocked kitchen. The design and amenities are not surprising for a new resident to Boston’s Innovation District.
