This project was executed by A.J. Martini, Inc. prior to being acquired by Commodore in 2012.
The team provided extensive preconstruction services and construction management for this new 40,000 SF, three-story, state-of-the-art research and education facility in the heart of the Union College campus. The exterior is masonry and stucco. The central glass-walled atrium that connects the adjacent buildings creates an academic town square for informal student and faculty collaborations. During construction, an existing outside wall of the F.W. Olin Center became the inside wall of the new Wold Engineering & Science Center.
The new Wold Engineering & Science Center houses a number of interdisciplinary programs such as biochemistry and environmental science and engineering. The new building contains high performance computer labs, a roof top renewable energy lab, conventional wet labs, flexible incubator labs, state-of-the-art sound and recording lab, labs for cutting-edge collaborative research and twelve faculty offices. The lobby of the building also has a student café.
